KidPacer

Terms of Service

Last updated 24 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and KidPacer ("we", "us") for using kidpacer.com, the parent pages and the KidPacer browser extension (together, "KidPacer"). Read them together with our Privacy Policy, which is part of them. By signing in or setting up the extension, you accept both. If you don't, please don't use KidPacer.

1. What KidPacer is

KidPacer is a browser extension and a set of parent pages that let a parent shape their child's YouTube: which channels are allowed, rules about words in titles and channel names, whether Shorts and Games appear, a time limit that refills while the child rests, treats that add time, and a live view of what is playing. It also measures how fast-paced videos are, and grades them in a catalogue shared by every family.

2. Who can use it

You must be an adult, 18 or older or the age of majority where you live, to sign in. You may add a child only if you are their parent or legal guardian, or are responsible for them with their parent's permission. You may set up the extension only on a computer you own or are entitled to manage. KidPacer is for personal, family use.

3. Your account and your family

You sign in with your Google account. Keep it secure: what is done while you are signed in is your responsibility. Anyone you invite to your family gets the same access you have. They can see and change its children, rules and computers, and they will see your name, email address and photo. Invite links work once and expire after 24 hours.

4. You are in charge of your child's settings

You decide what KidPacer does on your child's computer, and you are responsible for those choices and for supervising your child. By adding a child, you confirm that you have the right to do so, and you consent on their behalf to our collecting the information the Privacy Policy describes. We encourage you to tell children who are old enough to understand that KidPacer is on their computer.

5. What KidPacer cannot promise

KidPacer works inside YouTube's pages, and YouTube changes them often. Filtering can miss things: a video or a channel can get through, especially just after YouTube changes something. A child who removes the extension, or uses another browser or another device, is outside what KidPacer can see.

Pace grades are automated measurements of things like how often the picture cuts, how loud it is and how bright. They are a guide, not a judgment of whether a video is suitable, and not medical, psychological or educational advice. KidPacer helps you supervise; it does not replace you.

6. YouTube

KidPacer is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Your family still uses YouTube under YouTube's own terms, and because KidPacer uses YouTube API Services, by using KidPacer you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. KidPacer does not host or own any videos; they belong to the people who made them, and it does not remove YouTube's ads. If YouTube changes how it works or what it allows, parts of KidPacer may stop working, and we may have to change or remove them.

7. Using KidPacer fairly

You agree not to:

8. The video catalogue

When your child watches a video with KidPacer, their computer measures the video's pace and sends the result, with the video's id, title, channel and length, to the shared catalogue. The catalogue is not linked to your child, your computer or your family. You agree that we may keep it, use it to run and improve KidPacer, and share it or what we learn from it, since it describes videos and not people.

9. Price

KidPacer is free at the moment. If we introduce paid plans, we will say so clearly before anything is charged, and you will never pay for something you have not first agreed to.

10. What is ours and what is yours

KidPacer, its name, logo, website, extension and catalogue belong to us. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use KidPacer for your family. The information you give us stays yours; you let us store and use it only to run KidPacer, as the Privacy Policy describes. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely.

11. Changes to KidPacer

KidPacer is young and will change. We may add, change or remove features, or stop KidPacer altogether. If we stop it, we will give notice on the site where we can.

12. Ending

You can stop whenever you like: delete your account from your family page, and remove the extension from your child's computers. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, when the law requires it, or when carrying on would put you, others or KidPacer at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first. Sections 5, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15 and 16 still apply after you stop.

13. No warranties

KidPacer is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that KidPacer will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or right about every video. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by contract.

14. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, or for anything a child watches that KidPacer did not catch. Our total liability for any claim about KidPacer is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 US dollars, whichever is more. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.

15. If you misuse KidPacer

If you break these terms or the law while using KidPacer and someone brings a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, to the extent the law allows.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which KidPacer is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes about them are for the competent courts there. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may also bring a claim in its courts. Before going to court, please write to us: most things can be sorted out that way.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and if a change matters, we will tell you on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using KidPacer after that, you accept the new terms; if you don't agree with them, you can delete your account.

18. The rest

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about KidPacer. If a court finds any part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them to whoever takes over KidPacer.
